WG (Max) Sebald was a German-born author, as well as a professor at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England, for thirty years. His prose is known for its singular, rambling sort of style. The best way I can describe it is by relating the flow of Sebald's words to the tides of the ocean: they are entrancingly beautiful in their massive, unceasing movements. The below links offer more information on him.
